It was warm last weekend — let’s call it hot — when visiting Folsom Lake, northeast of Sacramento. The afternoon sun was bright, and my challenge in shooting the scenes and developing the artwork was of course to convey that shimmering heat without blowing out color. The grasses were summer gold with a purple profusion of lupine. And since it’s still spring, technically, it was not surprising to come across a new brood of Canada goslings.
