The deYoung Museum (in Golden Gate Park) and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (downtown) provide not only art within their walls, but architecture and design that invite you to visual delights looking at, out, and up. Here are two images from each museum.
In the last few years I’ve ridden a number of ferries through the San Juan and Gulf Islands, in the western U.S. and Canada. Naturally, the camera comes out for passing boats, dramatic skies, and cliff-clinging madrones. But I also find myself drawn to the shapes and shadows on board the ferries themselves. Here are four of the compositions that have arisen from these moments; click open for slideshow.
